Overview of SIT50422 Diploma of Hospitality Management

This qualification reflects the role of highly skilled senior operators who use a broad range of hospitality skills combined with managerial skills and sound knowledge of industry to coordinate hospitality operations. They operate independently, have responsibility for others and make a range of operational business decisions.

This qualification provides a pathway to work in any hospitality industry sector as a departmental or small business manager. The diversity of employers includes restaurants, hotels, motels, catering operations, clubs, pubs, cafés, and coffee shops. This qualification allows for multiskilling and for specialisation in accommodation services, cookery, food and beverage and gaming.

The skills in this qualification must be applied in accordance with Commonwealth and State/Territory legislation, Australian standards and industry codes of practice.

No occupational licensing, certification or specific legislative requirements apply to this qualification at the time of publication.

Academia of Trade has the following entry requirements:
International students must:
 
  • Be at least 18 years of age and have completed Year 12 or equivalent
  • Participate in a course entry interview to determine suitability for the course and student needs
  • Have an IELTS* score of 6.0 (test results must be no more than 2 years old). English language competence can also be demonstrated through documented evidence of any of the following:
  1. Educated for 5 years in an English-speaking country; or
  2. Successful completion of an English Placement Test.
 
*Note that other English language tests such as PTE and TOEFL can be accepted. Students are required to provide their results so that it can be confirmed they are equivalent to IELTS 6.0.

This qualification will be delivered over 78 weeks, including 60 weeks of training and assessment spread over 6 terms of 10 weeks each and 18 weeks of holidays.

This program is delivered in the classroom and through scheduled online learning/ assessment. Practical face to face training is also provided in a workshop.

This course will be delivered in our Parramatta Campus.

Students who complete this course may wish to continue their education into a range of Diploma qualifications, such as the SIT60322 Advanced Diploma of Hospitality Management.

Satisfactory course progress and attendance is very important to meet visa requirements. Please read the International Student Handbook carefully for more information. You will also be provided with further information about course progress and attendance requirements at your orientation.

If your application is successful, we will send you an Offer Letter and Student Agreement. You should make sure you read through this document carefully to make sure you are happy with all of the terms and conditions. If you are, then simply sign the document and send it back to us.

Once we receive this, we will issue you with a Confirmation of Enrolment (CoE) letter and an invoice for the first payment.
The first day of each course will include orientation and induction. Orientation will include information about the campus, living in Australia, accessing our support services and methods for achieving success throughout the course, including course progress requirements.

Assessment will occur through a variety of methods. Assessment conditions will also ensure a simulated workplace environment where relevant
assessment tasks:
• Reflect real life work tasks
• Are required to be performed within industry standard timeframes as specified by assessors in relation to each task
• Are assessed using assessment criteria that relate to the quality of work expected by the industry
• Are performed to industry safety requirements as relevant
• Utilise authentic workplace documentation
• Require students to work with others as part of a team
• Require students to plan and prioritise competing work tasks
• Involve the use of standard, workplace equipment such as computers and software
• Ensure that students are required to consider workplace constraints such as time and budgets.

Enrolment and Tuition fees this course are as follows (Australian Dollar):

Enrolment fee: $500.00 AUD

Materials fee: $2,00.00 AUD

Tuition fee: $18,000.00 AUD

A detailed payment plan and payment arrangements are provided in the Offer Letter and Student Agreement. You must pay all your course fees and on time. Non-payment of fees may result in cancellation of enrolment.

You are also required to take out Overseas Health Insurance Cover before arriving in Australia. Academia of Trade provides details of OSHC providers in the International Student Handbook. You can approach any of these providers to find out costs and organise your cover.

Students must also supply their own laptop or a similar device with Microsoft Office software e.g., Office 365 Personal that includes Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint & Publisher.

Student will be provided with a learner/study guide for each unit. This course may also have prescribed and recommended texts/textbooks. Copies of the textbooks can be found on college’s on-campus reference library, along with other reading and reference materials in print or electronic forms. A range of reading materials will also be provided during the session.

Students will also be guided to obtain member of State Library of Victoria and the National Library of Australia, which has a large collection of books, references, magazines, and online databases.

You can apply for recognition of existing qualifications or skills, knowledge, and experience (credit transfer or recognition of prior learning) as per the information included in our International Student Handbook, which is available at www.academi.edu.au.

If you are granted course credit, this will affect your course fees as well as the duration of your course. We will advise you in writing of changes to fees or course duration as a result of the credit. You will also be issued with a new Confirmation of Enrolment.
